This Thing Called 'PUBLICITY STUNT' !

As the year is gradually winding up, many Nigerian Entertainers are increasingly getting so desperate when they are not getting the needed buzz. So the only way to attract quick attention from the media and the public is to resort to what is called "PUBLICITY STUNT"

The industry has witness quite a number of these stuns and we are just going to share some of the starting from the most recent.

The Skiibii "Death Stunt": Actually we didn't come to terms with the rumour when it was reported. This stunt was actually astronautical, the height of all the other stuns pulled by celebs and entertainers.
The day was about to unfold its usual normalcy until the news starts floating over every strata of traditional and news media that the 23- years old rising act signed to the Five Star Music Group, reportedly slumped and died in his living room. Later, same day there were conflicting reports that it was a "publicity stunt" aimed at the promotion of his latest single, ‘Sampu’ as Skiibii ‘rose from the dead’ a few hours later.

The Famous Okoye twins popular known as Psquare, it was rumoured were on the verge of breaking up in 2014.The news rented the air that the leading pop duo were bent on going their separate ways until at an interview,Pquare publicist, Bayo Adetu , debunked the rumour saying: ‘It was all a Publicity Stunt’

What about the 2013 Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida relationship that was reported crashed and few weeks later in January 2014 the couple had a secret wedding, proving the break-up rumour was a PR stunt aimed at diverting attention away from their wedding. 18months later, the marriage went sour with tales that Maje had impregnated his ex-girlfriend.

Some of these Publicity stunts later became a reality like the spiralled marriage break-up story of popular producer K-Solo and wife Kikelomo. They told Channels Tv in an interview in 2012 that i was all a stunt but the marriage eventually crashed.

Publicity stunts may be considered a strategic way of getting faster and wider reach but should be used with caution and not sensitive cases like "death", so that "play play no go change to eat and go" according to a local parlance
