It it came as a big embarrassment on Monday, August 31, to see top Nigerian celebrities ejected from the hotel they were lodged in. The celebrities among whom was Terry G, Channel O presenter Denrele, Nollywood actress Grace Amah and others, were ejected from their hotel rooms in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.
According to reports, The celebrities were reported to have lodged in the hotel for a programme organized to host Nollywood stars that hail from Ebonyi state, and are making waves in the entertainment industry.
Some of the stars include Cha Cha Ekeh, Patoranking who are also from the state.
New Telegraph reports that, stars were seen at the Government House protesting the careless treatment meted out on them.
The hotel was said to have been owned by a prominent politician in the state and lodged by the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism who were also the organizers of the event.
One off the affect celebrity, Sholade said that they had entered into an agreement with the government to be paid a certain amount of money as appearance fee which the government could not honor.
She said “instead of them giving us our return tickets, our appearance fee; they sent police men to forcefully eject us from our hotel room”.
Also, that the two cars whose keys were handed over to Grace Amah and Patoranking at the event, have not been delivered to the stars as the organizers were yet to complete the payment to the suppliers.
In a reaction, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Jerry Uhuo said only four days was approved for the stars which elapsed Sunday night.
However, Uhuo regretted that some of the artists misbehaved including smoking against the stipulated rules in the hotel where they were lodged.
